The Holocaust Biography Research Project at the Working Lives Research Institute (London Metropolitan University) is presently conducting a global survey of the state of contemporary Holocaust biography writing, with specific reference to the social and working lives of survivors (Stage I). This involves a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the biographical work that has been produced or is in production, a review of biographical materials held in archives, and a consideration of already published accounts by survivors. To this end, the HBRP will undertake a comprehensive literature review of autobiographical and biographical materials in the public domain and a questionnaire survey and evaluation of a range of historical archives. In addition, the HBRP will conduct semi-structured interviews with the principle academics and archivists working in the field of Holocaust Studies and related areas. The survey will provide the foundation for further research that will compliment work already undertaken in this extensive field (Stage II).
