Questionnaire Survey and Database
We are mapping information about projects and initiatives that aim to enhance
the employability of individuals from particular disadvantaged groups or to
assist them in gaining direct access to jobs. We gather information through
a questionnaire survey and have set up an Access database which lists all
the questionnaire returns. We have produced some observations
based on initial database entries We have received some additional funding
during the second year of the research and this has enabled us to accept further
entries for the database until the end of September 2006. If you are a provider
of learning and skills development, guidance or job brokerage, please fill
in our questionnaire to ensure that
your projects are included in the database.
The database will be a useful research tool for providers and stakeholders.
All organisations that participate in the study will gain access to the database
as part of a toolkit.
Qualitative Interviews and Focus Groups
Interviews and focus groups with representatives of the target groups, with
learning and guidance providers, social partners, policy and funding agencies
and others have been carried out. We have summarised preliminary
findings. A model of ‘critical success factors’ is being developed
as part of the qualitative research.
The research results will present a detailed London-wide picture of existing
activities, identify any gaps and areas for improvement in provision and lead
to policy recommendations. A toolkit will be made available at the dissemination
conference in December 2006 containing:
· Summaries of the research analysis
· A user guide to the database
· A model of ‘critical success factors’
· Good practice case studies
