This paper attempts to shed new light on the critical role of distribution and warehousing in the contemporary political economy.
Distribution, according to the classical Marxian perspective, was deemed unproductive labour, providing the necessary movement in the circuit of capital. The paper aims to explore the role of distribution as a value creating arena within overall production networks. In short the concern is to integrate labour process change with the political economy of exchange and distribution
Kirsty Newsome is senior lecturer in the department of Human Resource Management at the University of Strathclyde. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at UCLA, Los Angeles.
