We continue to expand our teaching programmes at WLRI, and are delighted to announce a new Masters in Work and Social Change. The MA Work and Social Change focuses on the relationships between the world of work and social change, and is informed by the cutting edge research undertaken in the field by the Working Lives Research Institute.
The new course complements and shares some modules with the MA in Labour and Trade Union Studies; cementing our ties with the Centre for Trade Union Studies in our new Faculty of Applied Social Sciences.
Modules will include: Employment Relations; The History and Sociology of Work; Social identities and Collectivity; Labour in the Global Economy; Human and Social Capital – a critical exploration of theory; Research Methods and a written Dissertation.
Sian Moore,Course Leader, said: “Working Lives researchers are very excited to be able to offer this new and unique MA. It follows on from our successful Professional Doctorate: Researching Work, which demonstrated the attraction of postgraduate courses with a strong research emphasis for students interested and engaged in the areas of work, working lives, collective identities and social change.”
The MA Work and Social Change focuses on the relationships between the world of work and social change, and is linked to and informed by the work of the Working Lives Research Institute. It aims to provide a programme of research-based professional development for practitioners in the trade union, social, community, non-governmental and voluntary sectors who are concerned with researching the changing phenomena of work and working lives at local and global levels. It encourages students to reflect upon their professional experience and to develop their own theoretical approach and practical research skills.
