WLRI to Investigate Social Regulations between Contractors and Subcontractors during Restructuring

The WLRI is the UK partner in a new five-country year-long project starting in January 2011 that is led by the French National Agency for Improving Working Conditions (ANACT) to investigate the 'social regulation between contractors and subcontractors in the industrial sector during restructuring'. The other partners come from Spain, Hungary and Germany. The project is funded by the DG Employment, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, through its section dealing Social Dialogue, Social Rights, Working Conditions, Adaptation to change
Working Conditions, Adaptation to Change.

The project's aims are to bring together information on the extent of sub-contracting in industry in each of the partner countries in the current economic crisis, to evaluate the impact on employment relations, and to exchange, identify and disseminate examples of good practice. If you know trade unionists, contractors or sub-contractors who would be interested in participating in the project, or if you can make suggestions about a possible UK case study, please contact Steve Jefferys (s.jefferys@londonmet.ac.uk).
