Project Summary
The NUT has sought this funding to generate greater involvement and participation of members in the NUT’s local structures by encouraging members to become active equal opportunities officers. The NUT project aims to develop tools to enable new and existing equal opportunities officers to develop local strategies to engage all members in promoting equal opportunities including those who are under-represented in activity at local association level such as black and minority ethnic, lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans, disabled and women members. The project involves training equal opportunities officers in order to develop strategies about how regions and associations can: attract members to ‘take up’ the role: inspire members to ‘actively’ carry out the role; and increase the confidence, profile and impact of equal opportunities officers within associations.
