Aims

HIRES.Public examines how employee health is taken into account in public sector restructuring, and of how effective social dialogue in the public sector can mitigate harmful health effects. The key aims are to:

1)      Develop detailed public sector restructuring trajectories for period 2006-10 and explore the impacts restructuring is having and has had on relationships between the social partners and with clients or service-users;

2)      Develop sector benchmarking tools to analyse the effectiveness of public sector policies related to the health outcomes of restructuring;

3)      Identify the skills and competencies needed by the social partners to engage in social dialogue that will mitigate any negative health consequences;

4)      Focus and adapt the MIRE ESF, HIRES, ‘Psycho-Social Risks, services and social dialogue’ and HIRES+ project recommendations for use in the public sector.

5)      Disseminate the knowledge acquired during the project to other actors in the public sector at national and European levels.
