Background/Career
Stephen J. Perkins held a series of senior management posts in industry during privatization and internationalization initiatives. He spent a period as a management consultant, building an international profile, as an advisor to state owned and stock market listed companies, prior to embarking on an academic career.
He took up a new chair at the University of Bedfordshire in 2009, having spent most of the previous decade at University of North London/London Metropolitan University - latterly as Professor of Human Resource Management. He is a visiting senior research fellow at Cass Business School, City University, London.
Research interests and expertise
Stephen conducts research under the rubric of comparative and international organization and employment studies, with particular emphasis on the interplay of corporate governance, strategy and reward management.. His writing features in a number of refereed academic journals including Human Resource Management Journal; Journal of European Industrial Training; Journal of Management Studies; Organization Studies; Personnel Review; and Thunderbird International Business Review and Work Employment and Society; as well as in leading practitioner journals such as People Management (in the UK) and World at Work (USA).
