Senior Lecturer, Department of Management and Professional Development;
Associate Member WLRI
Frances began her career in the National Health Service,
working in administration, personnel and training. During her time at London
Metropolitan University she has taught modules including organisational
behaviour, applied psychology, managing people, organisational theory, research
methods and interpersonal skills on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate
programmes. She currently specialises in teaching cross-cultural management and
critical perspectives in organisational theory and managerial psychology. She
also works with the Refugee Assessment and Guidance Unit (RAGU) on the
development and teaching of management courses for refugees and refugee
organisations.
Frances’s current research interests centre on issues of
identity, diversity and organising practices. She was a member of the WLRI team
that recently completed a study of the employment trajectories for
refugee women - from volunteers to paid employees, funded by the London
Development Agency and European Social Fund Objective 3 co-financing programme.
Other current projects include the acculturation and adjustment of international
postgraduate students and diversity management in the voluntary sector.
