Stephen J. Perkins held a series of senior management posts in industry during privatization and internationalization initiatives. He spent a period as a management consultant, building an international profile, as an advisor to state owned and stock market listed companies, prior to embarking on an academic career.
A visiting senior research fellow at the Cass Business School, City University, since 1996, he joined University of North London at the beginning of 2000. He serves as a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Vice-President Reward Panel, and as an external examiner at Birkbeck College, London.
Stephen conducts research under the rubric of comparative and international organization and employment studies. His writing features in a number of refereed academic journals including Human Resource Management Journal; Journal of European Industrial Training; Journal of Management Studies; Organization Studies; Personnel Review; and Thunderbird International Business Review and Work Employment and Society; as well as in leading practitioner journals such as People Management (in the UK) and World at Work (USA).
